About

I'm Brock. About 20 years in IT, the last 10 building software: enterprise systems that run in production for years and get weirder as they grow. Manufacturing quality systems, military training simulation, cloud architecture, .NET and React by day, Go and more recently Rust. U.S. Marine before all of that.

Foxhole is where I write about the work. Not a tutorial blog, not a thought-leadership feed. Engineering written in flight: what I built, what broke, the number that fooled me, and what I changed. Being wrong is part of the content.

How it runs

  • Here, on Foxhole: the full write-ups, whenever there's something worth writing.
  • On LinkedIn, every Saturday: Notes from the Foxhole, a short recap of the week.

What I'm building

I run Narcoleptic Fox, a service-disabled veteran-owned software company in Orlando, Florida.

  • Mousing AI: document extraction with a second-model verifier and human review for anything uncertain. In production.
  • Tezcatl: an open-source C and C++ code-metrics tool, cross-checked against independent tools.
  • Foxstash: an open-source Rust library for local vector, keyword and hybrid search. No server, no GPU.
  • FoxWatch: a quiet PC health monitor. Pre-release.
  • Gust and Corsac: a typed workflow language and the runtime built on it. Works in progress, written up as they go.

The name

Half Marine, half fox. I have narcolepsy, and my wife loves foxes, so the company became Narcoleptic Fox. The tagline is built while the rest are sleeping.
